Wife died after birth of twins.  One twin was born dead, the other died soon after birth.  The wife's parents, the Andres, wanted to take the other two children to raise, but the father would not allow it.  He later let the Jim Williams family adopt Joseph Robert and the James Nunn family raised Peter Tillman.

      7. Peter Tillman Brown (Joseph Robert (Yardom), Tilman) was born in 1881 in South Carolina. He died in 1947 in South Carolina. He was buried in First Baptist Church, Windsor, Aiken County, South Carolina.

Robert Brown, son of Tilman Brown.

Raised by James Nunn and wife in Wagener, Aiken County, South Carolina.  Buried in Windsor, South Carolina (according to Mrs. Geneva Brown Ward).  Retained the name BROWN as his surname. 

Married Minnie Lee Nunn, daughter of Joshua Nunn, brother of James Nunn.  James and Joshua Nunn's father was killed in the Civil War.  He was one of eight boys, all had Biblical names.  They were from

Emanuel County, Georgia.  (One of his brothers is supposedly a direct ancestor of Senator Sam Nunn.)  Before he went to war, he asked a man who lived near his wife to look out for his wife and family.  When he was killed, his wife married the man.  The man did not like the boys and treated them badly.

      8. Joseph Robert Brown Williams (Joseph Robert (Yardom), Tilman) was born on 17 Sep 1883 in South Carolina. He died on 4 Oct 1942 in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. He was buried in West View Cemetery, Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia.

 

Adopted by James and Martha Williams of Wagener, Aiken County, South Carolina. It was said that he despised his natural father so much for putting him up for adoption that if he saw him coming down the street, he would cross to the other side to avoid him.

1900 Census Rocky Springs Township, Aiken County, South Carolina lists Joe with the Jim and Martha Williams Family.  It gives his month and year of birth as Oct 1883 (age 16).  Jim Williams' is listed as Sep

1835 (age 64), Martha's as Aug 1852 (age 47), daughter Alice's as May 1891 (age 9), and daughter Mary's as Jan 1892 (age 8).  The census indicates that Jim and Martha had been married 7 years and that Martha was the mother of no children.  In Jim's Marital Status and Years Married columns the original entry was W/23.  That had been changed to M/7.  All are listed as born in South Carolina as were their parents.  Jim and Joe are listed as Day Laborers.

She died on 2 Jun 1961 in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. She was buried in West View Cemetery, Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia.

    33. Joseph Robert Williams (Joseph Robert Brown Williams, Joseph Robert (Yardom), Tilman) was born on 11 Mar 1931 in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. He died on 1 Oct 1998 in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. He was buried on 5 Oct 1998 in Appling,

Columbia County, Georgia.

 

Buried in Snelling Family Cemetery with full military honors.  Sheriff's Department also provided pall bearers and honor guard with bagpipes.

Joseph married (1) LIVING Arrington daughter of Thomas Hardy Arrington and Eunice Pennington on 19 Jun 1955 in Wrens, Jefferson County, Georgia. The marriage ended in divorce. LIVING was born on 12 Nov 1932 in Wrens, Jefferson County, Georgia.
