William Little Brown

The following is a brief sketch of my known Brown genealogy. I am:

James Ballantine Brown Jr born 7/14/1957 in Cooperstown, NY. I was married on 7/11/1981 to Elizabeth Margaret Smith and we have 4 daughters. My father was James Ballantine Brown, born 12/31/1928 in Manhattan, NYC, NY. He married Elinor Virginia Frey on 12/15/1956 and had 2 children, myself and Meredith Scott Brown born September 17,1958. He died 9/29/1964 near Rochester NY.

My grandfather, William Barrett Brown was born August 4th, 1897 in Brooklyn, NY. He married in about 1925 in Manhattan to Mary Bolton Wooley (1900-1945), and had 3 children, Barrett Bolton Brown (1926-1986), James Ballantine Brown (1928-1964), and Mary Bolton Brown(1932-living). He died in Greenwich, Conn in April, 1977.

My great grandfather was William John Brown, born January 19, 1870 in Brooklyn, NY, married Ruth Doughty (1878-1931) in 1895, probably in Brooklyn. He was an engraver at The American Bank Note Company. He moved to Mamaroneck, NY before 1910 for the rest of his life. He died in March, 1919 in a Manhattan hospital. He had 2 children, William Barrett Brown (1897-1977) and Malcolm Doughty Brown (1902- abt 1972).

My great great grandfather was William Little Brown. He was born in NY est 1840. He married Margaret Lamb ( 1845-?) probably in 1868 or so probably in Brooklyn, NY. He had 3 children, Ella Brown (1869-1942), William John Brown (1870-1919), and Sarah E Brown (abt 1872-1962). William Little Brown died in Washinton DC in 1874.This is as far back as I have gotten. I am in the process of trying to obtain his death certificate but I have not been having much success. I do know that William Little Brown was a bank note printer.
